Though I completed item #3: Hike on a trail outside CA on the “Life To Do List” a while back, I’ve only just now completed the final video from the trip. For a refresher about my visit to North Carolina, Click Here!

As I mentioned a while back, Asheville is an ideal vacation destination for someone like me. As Suze Orman would call me, I am Young Fabulous and Broke! This means that the mini vacation meant experiencing sites, sounds, and tastes, that were affordable but also yummy and different than what I could get back home.

The good news is, Asheville has suprisingly GREAT Mexican food dripping with a red sauce that rivals my SoCal fave El Compadre.

We picked some up on the way to an amazing concert by Susan Tedeschi at the Orange Peel which happened to have the largest ceiling fan I’ve ever seen (the diameter must have been twenty feet!). For a video from that incredible show, see below!

Global branding is an important park of self-marketing. It’s important that the various forms of media in which you sell a product are all united in their messaging.

With the recent renaming (and thus rebranding) of my website to “Journey With Janelle,” It became all the more appropriate to create videos, photography and writing projects that all came together with a shiny yellow bow.

To kick things off, we have not one, but TWO “Journey with Janelle” videos. I recently traveled to North Carolina (see the pix HERE), and took the trusty video camera along to document the fun times.

First, we have a stop at the Laughing Seed Cafe in Asheville, NC. This quaint and delicious spot was a big bear hug of a welcome after the 2.5 hours we spent in the car to get there.

I immediately fell in love with Asheville. The town is nestled in the more mountainous region of the state and therefore provides some incredible views of tri-color trees and GREEN everything. While there are some common features of Americana (yes, a McDonald’s) the majority of the establishments are private, small businesses. This means that each individual owner has a stake in making an impact on the community.

The Laughing Seed was no different- and it had some of the best (and varied) vegetarian cuisine I’ve ever had. Moderately priced and hardly a wait, it’s a stop I highly recommend if you’re passing through the area.

Another adventure involving food and the road trip to Asheville was when we stopped at Bojangle’s. A Southern tradition, this stop has basically three items on its menu: Chicken, Biscuits, and Southern Sweet Tea. I mean… twist my arm!

In particular, I was wondering why they advertised themselves as being so famous for these items. What makes them so good?

I’m going to continue making these videos as I travel around the world, so please feel free to subscribe to my YouTube page and follow my journey!

This past week I had the pleasure of traveling to Asheville and Greensboro, NC. Having never been to the state, I was particularly looking forward to photographing during one of the most gorgeous times of year.

The weather played nicely with my camera as my good friend Maital and I hiked, road-tripped, and walked throughout the aptly named “Green”sboro.
